Another police officer has been shot around here. The guy that was shot wasn't even on call, he was just checking out suspicious activity by three kids and one of them shot him and they took off. They say his injuries are "life threatening." That happened at 10:15 last night and it took them all the way through the night and into earlier this morning before they finally caught him. They said several police departments from across the state including the Polk County Sheriffs office and the F.H.P. were aiding in the search. They had several road blocks set up in the area before his mom finally convinced him to turn himself in.

Of course, the comments are full of people bitching about soldiers losing their jobs. I'm sorry, but if the government would have kept our military budget under control they wouldn't have hired people they don't need.

We spend 500 BILLION DOLLARS more than China. We spend more on our military than China, France, the UK, Russia, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and India combined. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/timeline/0b7ea9b398bc3d1defb7852c62eb50e3.png

The U.S. Navy is the largest in the world. Its tonnage aka. carrying capacity is greater than that of the next 13 largest navies combined. It has the worlds largest aircraft carrier fleet and has 286 ships in active service.

EDIT: A bit depressing of a post, but my 1000th post

Man, I've done 2 cruises already on the same enterprise (Costa, but I went in the Magica and the Serena) and thankfully none of this happened... I'm praying for the family who lost parents or haven't found their parents yet.

I knew her. Not well, but I had talked to her. So sad, and shocking. I don't believe it. Things like this aren't supposed to happen in my little town. Her ex-boyfriend apparently turned himself in.

My dad's cousin was murdered the same way a couple of days after Christmas by her boyfriend...

Sucks, but unfortunately, there are people out there who are like that.

The story got some national coverage. Had no idea it was that complicated.
